Warm Spaces Grant and Improving Access to Food Grant (UK)

Northern Food Security Challenge in Canada

Deadline: 05-Sep-2025

This grant scheme offers funding for two key areas: Warm Spaces and Improving Access to Food, aimed at supporting communities in the Vale of Glamorgan during the ongoing cost-of-living crisis.

The Warm Spaces grant helps create a network of community venues that provide residents with a welcoming, heated space at no cost. These spaces encourage social connection and support. Funding is available for organisations working on activities related to health, wellbeing, financial advice, employment, food support, and more. It can also be used to cover additional operational expenses like utility bills or staffing due to extended opening hours.

The Improving Access to Food grant is intended to help organisations support a growing number of individuals experiencing food insecurity. It focuses on strengthening community food initiatives that address the root causes of hunger across the Vale. Eligible projects include social supermarkets, community cafés, lunch clubs, cookery classes, and food distribution services. Funding can be used for purchasing quality food and essentials, training volunteers, and developing resilient community hubs that co-locate various support services.

Capital funding may be used to acquire equipment such as fridges, freezers, cooking tools, or to invest in local food growing and distribution solutions that promote long-term food security.

Organisations can apply for up to £2,000 in revenue funding under the Warm Spaces Grant. For the Improving Access to Food Grant, they may apply for up to £2,500 in revenue and £5,000 in capital funding. There is no minimum amount required to apply for either.
