[Call for New Members] Become a Generation Connect – AFRICA Youth Envoy!

UNDP/Cameroon: Open Call for Proposals

Deadline: 6-Mar-22

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has launched a call for nominations of new members of the Generation Connect – Africa Group (GC-AFR) being part of the “Generation Connect” global initiative, which aims to engage global youth and encourage their participation as equal partners alongside the leaders of today’s digital change.

The Generation Connect – Africa Youth Group (GC-AFR) aims at providing a unique participative process for youth to contribute to the work of ITU and the African Telecommunication Union (ATU) in the continent. It offers African youth a virtual platform to discuss opportunities and challenges related to digital technologies. Through this platform, young people are consulted and able to share with ITU-ATU membership their interests, concerns and perspectives on digital transformation.

GC-AFR offers the African youth a virtual platform to discuss opportunities and challenges related to digital technologies in the African region. Through this platform, youth will be able to share with the ITU Membership their interests, concerns, and perspectives on digital transformation, in particular in the context of the upcoming World Telecommunication Development Conference 2022 (WTDC-22) and the Generation Connect Global Youth Summit to be held in 2022.

This initiative was launched in November 2020, in line with the ITU Youth Strategy which aims to improve and have a real impact on the lives of young people around the world and to ensure meaningful participation of youth in ITU as key stakeholders in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

As they now look towards the World Telecommunication Development Conference 2021 (WTDC-21), the ambition for the second phase is to continue to engage with members of the GC – Africa Youth Group in the journey to the WTDC-21 Generation Connect Global Youth Summit.
