The Community Foundation of Gaston County is accepting applications for the 2020-2021 Teens Changing Gaston County Grant Program.
Their goal is to help youth in their community raise their SAT scores without having to break the bank to do so. Their project activity is to offer a SAT prep course for 25 youth who live in Gaston County. This course will be 4 sessions long, with each session lasting about 2 hours. Experienced test-takers plus a professional adult SAT trainer will teach these sessions.
The grant applications are evaluated by the Teens Changing Gaston County Board, which is comprised of teens from around the county.

The Teens Changing Gaston County grant is an opportunity for youth across Gaston County to receive up to $1,000 for a youth-led service project.
Requirements
- Project must have a positive impact on youth in Gaston County
- Project must be completed by December 31, 2021
- Project must be planned by youth and carried out by youth (between ages of 13 and 18 years old).
- Each group must have an adult adviser and a sponsoring organization. This sponsor organization must be a nonprofit community group or school.
- Requests can be made for a minimum of $50 and a maximum of $1,000
- Youth planning the project must gain skills and knowledge in the process
- Project must be beneficial, creative, and realistic
