Applications are invited for the 2021 COVID-19 Relief: Recovery 2 Grant. The Covid-19 Relief Fund at Community Foundation for San Benito County (CFFSBC), in partnership with United Way of San Benito County (UWSBC), was created to respond to the continuously evolving crisis of the global pandemic in San Benito County.
Priority will be given to organizations who are still unable to open due to COVID-19 restrictions, or who have faced ongoing hardship due to high fixed operating costs and decreased revenues.
Additional priority will be given to nonprofits who provide service to vulnerable residents of San Benito County, including but not limited to: food, shelter, health and mental health, child and family services, youth, senior, social, crisis, treatment and prevention services.
Funding Information
Grant Award Amounts: With limited funding sources, the maximum grant per approved request will be $25,000. One grant may be awarded per nonprofit.
In general, Covid-19 Relief Recovery 2 grants awards will NOT fund the following:[
- Organizations that discriminate by age, disability, ethnic origin, gender, race, religion, or sexual orientation
- Programs that benefit a specific individual
- Fraternal or service organizations, unless in support of specific programs open to or benefiting the entire community
- Salaries or operating expenses of schools, government departments and agencies or related organizations
- Fundraising events such as, walk-a-thons, tournaments, fashion shows, dinners, and auctions
- Private foundations or fundraising organizations
- Organizations and programs designed to support political activities
- Organizations located outside San Benito County unless for a specific program benefiting residents within San Benito County
- Pay off existing obligations or enable funding of reserve accounts
- Endowment funds
- Scholarships, fellowships, travel grants, and academic, technical or specialized research
- Applications for grant requests that far exceed a reasonable proportion to the applicant’s financial scale
Eligibility Criteria
Grants may be awarded to nonprofit organizations serving San Benito County meeting the following criteria:
- Applicants must be registered, in good standing with local and state regulations and tax requirements, be active, and organized according to either Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3), 501(c)(6), or 501(c)(19);
- Demonstrate a need for funding due to the coronavirus pandemic or the impact of following public health recommendations to “flatten the curve” of potential Covid-19 infections locally for the purpose of either:
- Providing new or altered support services or resources to impacted people, organizations, or communities.
- Continuity of operations support due to increased expenses or decreased revenue.
- Have a plan for adapting or maintaining services now or in the future including adherence to applicable county or state guidance on re-opening;
- Demonstrate a high degree of benefit to the general public or a broad sub-population( e.g. youth, elderly) over time; and
- Have the ability and organizational capacity to adapt and continue to have a sustainable, long-term influence in the community.
