The NSW Government is seeking applications for the 2022 Landcare Riparian Restoration Grants Program to restore riparian areas that have suffered cumulative damage from recent natural disasters including drought, floods and fires, in NSW.
The program will fund on-ground projects such as riverbank and stream restoration, on-farm erosion works and tree planting, to help mitigate erosion and ensure riverbanks and the wider ecosystems are healthy.
Objectives
A key objective of this grants program:
- fund grass-roots projects through Landcare (or not for profit NRM incorporated group) that will restore and future-proof damaged riparian areas (targeted on-ground works);
- provide immediate economic stimulus by using local services and contractors, and
- aid in restoring riparian areas that suffered cumulative damage from recent natural disasters (floods, fires and drought)
Funding Information
- Grants of up to $50,000 are available per incorporated Landcare or natural resource management group.
- Joint submissions between multiple groups will also be considered up to a total value of $200,000. There is a maximum grant allocation of $250,000 per Local Land Services region.
Eligibility Criteria
- Incorporated or auspice Landcare groups and networks in NSW are eligible to apply for this grant. Aboriginal incorporated entities are encouraged to apply. NRM not for profit incorporated entities may also apply.
- ny regional riparian area in NSW except the metropolitan areas of Greater Sydney, Newcastle and Wollongong.
- Riparian areas may be located on private or public land providing appropriate consents and permits are obtained.
- The area of work must have been impacted by recent (within the last 5 years) bushfires, floods or drought.
- Severely fire and flood effected areas with a greater potential for recovery are weighted higher.
- The project must demonstrate a clear link to stimulating local/regional economies. For example, using local businesses, contractors and/or suppliers.
- Contractors must have a registered ABN and necessary insurance and indemnities.
- Using Aboriginal contractors are encouraged. Reach out to your local Aboriginal Engagement Officer for your LLS region.
