2022 National Criminal History Improvement Program (US)

The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) seeks applications for funding for the fiscal year (FY) 2022 National Criminal History Improvement Program (NCHIP).

Goals 

This funding will assist states and tribes with finding ways to make more records available to NICS, including records in NCIC, and records in the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) Indices. Therefore, through the funded activities, BJS expects that more records (including improved quality, completeness, and timeliness) will become available in these systems.

Eligibility Criteria

The NCHIP application must be submitted by the agency designated by the governor to administer NCHIP or a federally recognized tribe. States and tribes may choose to submit applications as part of a multi-state consortium, a multi-tribe consortium, or another entity.
