The BC Association of Aboriginal Friendship Centres (BCAAFC) is accepting submissions for the Path Forward Community Fund to support the self determination of safety planning in Indigenous communities and address systemic, Indigenous-specific causes of gender-based violence through capacity-building and community planning.
The distribution of medium-size grants will be guided by an adjudication committee of diverse Indigenous People(s) that refect the perspectives and experiences of on-and off reserve individuals, disabled community members, Indigenous men and boys, LGBTQA2S+ folks, Elders and youth, First Nations, Inuit, Métis, and non-status communities.
Funding Information
- 18-month projects are eligible for up to $150,000.
- 24-month projects are eligible for up to $200,000.
Eligible Activities
- The Path Forward funds eligible activities include:
- Building capacity;
- Hosting engagement and facilitation;
- Supporting the development of crisis response plans;
- Materials for communication plans;
- Information sharing and tools to navigate the justice and public safety systems;
- Serving Indigenous people with disabilities who may face GBV
- Culturally appropriate safety training; and
- Cultural support and healing.
Eligibility Criteria
- This funding is open to any of the following Indigenous agencies and communities in B.C.:
- Applicant(s) identified as Indigenous organization(s);
- Applicant(s) identified as a First Nations, Bands, and/or Tribal Councils, Treaty First Nation Governments;
- Métis Chartered Communities;
- Métis organizations or services providers; and
- Urban / off-reserve Indigenous organization/communities(s).
