The UN Women Country Office in Ethiopia is looking for a responsible partner/s, a civil society organization/s, to implement a pilot project on strengthening the capacity of women’s rights organizations to influence policy process and evidence-based advocacy.
The project has an overall goal of enhancing the capacity of women’s rights organizations to advocate for and influence policy and decision-making processes on gender equality and the empowerment of women.
The organization/s will deliver a comprehensive program that will enhance the capacity of women’s rights organizations to advocate for and influence policy and decision-making processes on gender equality and the empowerment of women.
Tasks
This includes the following main tasks:
- Conduct training needs assessment amongst CSOs and women organizations and association to design tailored capacity building trainings including on evidence-based advocacy.
- Conduct capacity building trainings for representatives of women’s rights organizations on evidence based policy advocacy.
- Organize policy dialogue platforms with key stakeholders working in the area on selected thematic areas on GEWE.
- Prepare and disseminate policy briefs on selected thematic issues on GEWE.
- Develop a handbook on policy advocacy for women’s rights organizations.
- Support the development of a gender policy for Ethiopia.
Funding Information
The budget range for this proposal should be 75,000 – 85,000 USD.
Project Target
The geographical focus of the project will have a national coverage. However, organizations may propose to focus at the Federal level and selected regions depending on where CSO/s have programmatic interventions.
Eligibility Criteria
- Legally constituted organization with a valid registration in Ethiopia.
- Experience in undertaking capacity building initiatives is mandatory.
- Experience in engaging in community-based initiatives, projects, and programmes.
- Have experts in gender mainstreaming and areas of service required.
- Experience in supporting national and global planning processes, conducting policy dialogues, and engaging in evidence-based advocacy and lobbying is considered as an advantage.
- Experience in results-based project management.
- Previous working experience with United Nations is highly desirable.
