Deadline: 28-Feb-23
The Australian Government is inviting wood processing facilities via a restricted process to apply to deliver services under the Accelerate Adoption of Wood Processing Innovation Program.
Funding will be from 2022–23 to 2025–26 for projects which will make better use of existing timber supplies, add value to existing products, create new products, or reduce the industry’s carbon footprint.
Objectives
-
The objectives of the program are to:
- Fund privately owned wood processing facilities to increase and/or diversify production capabilities or capacity. For example, the ability to process smaller logs or install new technology to create new products
- allow greater use of Australia’s sustainably managed timber
- support the forestry and wood processing industries to continue to reduce their carbon footprint.
The increase in demand and disruptions to supply over recent years have highlighted the need for Australia to expand the capacity and capability of domestic wood production. Doing so will provide domestic sources of in-demand products, make better use of existing timber supplies and allow our industry to be more resilient to future supply chain disruptions.
