The Afghan Children Read (ACR) is seeking applications for its program “Social Mobilization in Support of EGR”. The ACR Project is a five-year USAID-funded primary education initiative designed to improve equitable access to education and generate measurable reading outcomes for girls and boys in Afghanistan.
The ACR Project will support education service delivery by building the capacity of the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan (GIRoA)’s Ministry of Education (MoE) to provide an evidence-based early grade reading (EGR) program in Dari and Pashto for students in grades 1 to 3 in both formal and Community Based Education (CBE) schools.
There would be three grants one for each province, and the grant for Kabul will be responsible for providing technical assistance to MoE Social Mobilization Directorate at the central level.
- Technical Assistance to Social Mobilization Directorate and Capacity Building of SMSs
- Awareness Building and Engagement of Parents and SMS in EGR Activities
- Improving Learning Environment and Developing School Improvement Plan (SIP)
Funding Information
The total estimated value of each award is:
- up to $1,000,000 for Herat Province,
- up to $1,000,000 for both Nangarhar and Laghman Provinces, and
- up to $250,000 for Kabul Province.
Eligibility Criteria
- Each applicant must:
- Be officially registered and working in compliance with all applicable civil and fiscal regulations including but not limited to pertinent local laws and status. In lieu of official registration, an applicant may produce proof of effort to secure registration, exemption from registration, or demonstrate why such registration is not optional or practicable.
- Adhere to the ACR Project’s stated objectives and principles.
- Not be a debarred organization.
- Organizations that fall within the following categories may submit an application in response to this program:
- Non-U.S. Non-Government Organizations (NGOs)
- International Non-Governmental Organizations (INGOs)
- Community Based Organizations (CBOs)
- Civil Society Organizations (CSOs)
