Africalia has launched its second call for proposals as part of its Belgium program.
The purpose of this call is to encourage the public to think about active and supportive (global) citizenship, cultural diversity through contemporary creations in all disciplines. Artistic proposals should be brought and/or made in partnership with artists from the diasporas of sub-Saharan Africa or Afro-descendants.
Objectives
- The artistic proposals selected are intended to become awareness tools to denounce societal dysfunctions, foster cohesion and openness, address global issues and think of ways to reinvent our societies creatively and artistically.
- The proposal must be the result of a collaboration between one or more artist (s) and a supporting structure of the project, and encourage the meeting of different artistic disciplines: in the idea of supporting and / or developing bridges between operators Belgian artists and artists from different disciplines will promote proposals initiated in a spirit of partnership and co-creation.
- The proposals will highlight the cultural cross-fertilization and contemporary artistic expressions of artists from diasporas in sub-Saharan Africa / Afro-descendants.
- The proposal will aim to overcome stereotypes, negative perceptions, all polarizations and discriminations because of belonging to a minority or in connection with social divisions. It will promote social cohesion, tolerance and mutual respect.
Funding Information
- The contribution of Africalia will be between a minimum of € 5,000 and a maximum of € 10,000 per proposal.
- The total budget available for this call is 50.000 €.
Eligibility Criteria
- Legal persons under Belgian law (non-profit organizations, artists’ collectives or other cultural structures, private companies of the production company type) whose head office is established in Belgium, and who carry out regular activities in the sector of culture, arts and creation.
- Projects of individual artists may be submitted, provided that they work in partnership with a cultural association (legal persons under Belgian law (non-profit organizations, artists’ collectives or other cultural structures, private companies of the type of production company ) established in Belgium, which assumes legal responsibility, de facto associations are not eligible.
- All applications must be completed in Dutch or French, the working languages of the Belgian Directorate General for Development Cooperation. The file can be completed in English provide a summary of the proposal in French or Dutch. Co-financing applications submitted in other languages will not be considered.
Eligible Activities
The call concerns only projects whose purpose is in Belgium. It focuses on the realization of cultural and artistic works directly related to education for global citizenship and solidarity, paying specific attention to cultural cross-fertilization and aiming to highlight contemporary creations of artists from Africa. black / diasporas from sub-Saharan Africa / Afro-descendants.
The following proposals are not eligible:
- Proposals dealing only with construction costs and equipment restoration
- Double funding
- Proposals for the purchase of equipment or materials only
- Self-promotion proposals of their authors
- Political, discriminatory or proselytizing actions
- Tourist stays and school trips
- Information projects on ECMS actions
- Proposals whose main objective is academic and/or relates to research
- Internships within the framework of the studies
- A commercial activity
- The proposals of purely academic training
- Proposals for fundraising actions
- The financing of the salaries related to the proposal (except for services).
- Rents
- Proposals with a start date prior to December 1, 2019.
- Proposals that have not identified another source of funding, either financial or in-kind, covering the estimated value of at least 20% of the budget. total forecast;
- All expenditure included in the list of non-eligible expenditure of development cooperation
