The U.S. Embassy in Algeria is seeking applications for Study of the U.S. Institutes (SUSI) for Student Leaders on Entrepreneurship and Economic Development.
The SUSIs for Student Leaders are intensive short-term academic programs whose purpose is to provide groups of undergraduate student leaders with a deeper understanding of the United States while simultaneously enhancing their leadership skills.
The SUSIs on Entrepreneurship and Economic Development will provide participants with an overview of entrepreneurial approaches by reviewing the development, history, challenges, and successes of U.S. entrepreneurial enterprises, including social enterprises, business leadership and women’s economic empowerment, in the United States and globally.
Topics may include, but are not limited to, trade, investment, financial literacy, banking, micro finance, organizational development and management, innovation, emerging markets and risk analysis, strategic business planning, corporate social responsibility, and minorities in entrepreneurship. The program is fully funded, including international airfare, travel within the United States, accommodation, food, and program fees.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicant an Algerian citizen, living in Algeria, and attending school in Algeria.
- They are currently in their 1 st year or 2nd year (LMD), 1st, 2nd or 3rd year (Classical System), 1st thru 4th year (i.e. Engineering studies or any similar curricula), 1st through 5th year (i.e. Medicine or any similar curricula) and they are committed to returning home to complete their degree.
- They will be 18 to 25 years old as of June 2nd, 2020.
- They are proficient in English.
- They have a sustained high level of academic achievement, as indicated by grades, awards, and teacher recommendations.
- They are mature, responsible, independent, open-minded, tolerant, thoughtful and inquisitive.
- They have a strong interest in learning about the United States.
- They are comfortable with campus life, prepared to share living accommodations, and able to adjust cultural and social practices different from those of their country.
