The American Psychological Foundation (APF) is seeking applications for its Division 39 Grant Program to support efforts in education, research, and service that advance and encourage the field of psychoanalysis.
The Marsha D. McCary Division 39 Fund for Psychoanalysis, named for the Fund’s founder, gives annual grants to recognize and promote the contributions of psychoanalysis to psychology and to societal well-being more generally. Through the annual grants, Division 39 seeks to advance psychoanalysis by supporting new developments in education, research and service that demonstrate the value of psychoanalytic principles and treatments to the public.
Division 39 is particularly interested in projects that show the applicability of psychoanalytic ideas to pressing clinical, organizational, and social problems.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants:
- must have a demonstrated knowledge of psychoanalytic principles;may be a practicing psychoanalytic therapist, but this is not a requirement;demonstrates interest in communicating to the public the value of psychoanalytic principles and/or treatments.must agree that, if awarded a grant, they will give a follow-up report to the Evaluation Committee on the use and impact of the grant.
Evaluation Criteria
Proposals will be evaluated on:
- impact of proposed project in increasing public awareness of the value of psychoanalytic principles and treatments, quality, viability and promise of project, and impact of the grant funds on the overall project.
