The Provincial Government is inviting young, innovative, community-minded Newfoundlanders and Labradorians to apply for a seat on the Premier’s Youth Council.
The Premier’s Youth Council is comprised of 25 youth between the ages of 16 to 24. It provides the valuable perspective of youth to the Premier, ministers and senior government officials on programs and services. Recent areas of discussion and analysis by the council include:
- Youth retention
- Mental health
- Come Home 2022
- Immigration
- Reconciliation
- Renewable energy
Purpose
- The purpose of the Premier’s Youth Council is to:
- Provide advice to the Premier and Provincial Government, bringing a youth perspective to select topics important to youth and government’s agenda.
Structure: The committee consists of members between the ages of 16 and 24 at the time of appointment, balanced for gender, regional and other considerations such as disability, LBGTQ2SI and racial minority communities, etc. Efforts will be made to ensure the Premier’s Youth Council is inclusive and representative of the communities served within the province.

Criteria
- Members of the Premier’s Youth Council must:
- Be between the ages of 16 and 24 at the time of appointment
- Normally reside in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador for nine months of the year while serving on the Council.
