The Dutch Jewish Humanitarian Fund (JHF) is seeking applications for its grant program to enhance Jewish life in Central and Eastern Europe.
Objectives
JHF supports organizations and projects directed to:
- Building up and ensuring the continuity of Jewish communities, in the field of culture, transfer of know-how and reinforcement of the immaterial infrastructure;
- Facilitating Jewish education;
- Promoting mutual respect between people.
Grant Information
The maximum grant request is 10,000 Euro and should be made for projects starting on or after January 1st, 2020.
Eligibility Criteria
- The geographic focus of the project should be Central and Eastern Europe.
- The application should fit above-mentioned objectives.
- Organizations can only submit one application per year. If an organization submits more than one application, the JHF will not take any of the applications into consideration and all applications will be deemed rejected.
- Receiving a grant from the JHF requires that at least 50% of the total project budget must be covered by co-funding and/or the organization’s own contribution. Applications requesting JHF funding for more than 50% of the project costs, will be rejected. Small organizations with less than 10,000 Euro annual expenses are exempted from this 50% rule. However, in such a case, at least 20% of the project budget must be covered by co-funding and/or the organization’s own contribution. A small organization submitting an application requesting JHF funding for more than 80% of the project costs will be rejected.
- Cost estimates of the project should be credible and realistic.
- The beneficiary of the bank account must be the organization itself.
- Umbrella organizations can only apply for a grant if the proposed project is implemented by the umbrella organization itself.
- Applicant preferences
- Local organizations in Central and Eastern Europe have strong preference.
- Private institutions or organizations will receive preference over public or semi-public institutions or organizations.
- To apply for a JHF grant the grant applicant must:
- Be registered as an organization. Individuals cannot apply for a grant.
- NOT be established or registered in the Netherlands;
- NOT be connected to the Dutch-Jewish community in Israel;
- NOT have activities in the Netherlands.
- Rather not be an organization whose primary purpose is to disburse (in)direct grants.
Eligible Countries: Albania, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, the Slovak Republic, Slovenia, and the three Baltic States: Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
