🇳🇦 Namibia: Grants to Promote Coexistence with Wildlife

Deadline: 25-Jul-25

The Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism (MEFT), through the HWC—WC Project and with the support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Global Environment Facility (GEF), is now inviting applications for small grants.

These grants are open to community groups, conservancies, and their implementing partners located in areas identified as hotspots for human-wildlife conflict and wildlife crime.

The objective of the small grants window is to support initiatives that improve sustainable livelihoods and promote harmonious human-wildlife coexistence.

Specifically, the funding will assist in the implementation of sustainable livelihood projects in sectors such as tourism, agriculture, fisheries, and water access.

Additionally, the grants aim to support community involvement in constructing fencing and buffer zone infrastructure around Etosha and Bwabwata National Parks. These measures are critical for reducing conflict between humans and wildlife while also safeguarding communities and biodiversity.

Projects that directly contribute to enhancing human-wildlife coexistence or help prevent wildlife crime are also eligible for support under this program.

In terms of funding, applicants can request up to USD 50,000 for livelihood projects, with exceptional cases considered for up to USD 150,000. For fencing-related projects, the grant ceiling is set at up to USD 300,000.
