The Community Foundation for Kingston & Area is now accepting applications from qualified organizations in Prince Edward County for The Stark Family Fund granting program.
Established in 2022 by a bequest from the Stark family, income from the Stark Family Fund goes toward supporting a broad spectrum of community activities and charitable causes in the fields of education, health, social services, animal welfare and culture in Prince Edward County.
Fields of Interest
- Animal Welfare, Arts and Culture, Community Development, Education, and Health and Social Services.
Eligible Projects
- All project proposals must meet eligibility criteria.
- Successful projects will be characterized by many of the following traits:
- they build on existing community strengths and assets;
- they respond to clearly identified local needs and provide demonstrable enrichment to the community;
- they use resources efficiently and effectively;
- they involve meaningful partnerships;
- they strive for a significant and/or lasting impact;
- they benefit a wide audience;
- they show innovation, creativity, proactive thinking, and a degree of risk.
Geographic Area
- The geographic area served: the Municipality of Prince Edward County.
Eligibility Criteria
- The following eligibility requirements apply to all granting programs. In addition, each grant program has its own eligibility criteria (including granting area) so please review each program’s requirements carefully before applying.
- Any applicant organization must be a charity registered with Canada Revenue Agency or formally partnered with an organization that is either a charity registered with Canada Revenue Agency or a municipality.
- The applicant organization must have a strong community presence in the geographic area they serve through a local Board of Directors, a local, well-defined accountable committee, or a local office with strong community involvement.
- All applications involving activities with primary and secondary schools must be accompanied by a Letter of Permission from the relevant School Board(s).
- Any overdue final reports for previously completed projects funded by the Foundation must have been received.
Ineligible
- Grants for the following will not be considered:
- to cover deficits or retire debts;
- to provide endowment funds;
- to support the operating expenses of established organizations or programs (including predictable replacement of office equipment);
- for sectarian, religious, or political purposes;
- to respond to annual fund drives for sustaining support.
- Grants will not normally be given:
- to contribute to major renovation or capital construction costs;
- to individuals (with the exception of scholarships or other extraordinary cases where supported by an intermediary organization that is a charity registered with Canada Revenue Agency);
- to provide money for fundraising activities;
- to cover wages of full-time staff.
