The National Centre for Farmer Health, as part of the Victorian Governments drought support, is delivering a Community Grants Program Look Over the Farm Gate to help communities come together and support farmers and farming families under stress.
This grants program empowers local organisations to create events and initiatives that are tailored to their unique community. The focus will be on activities which support mental wellbeing and bring people together but will include a wide range of events, as diverse as the communities where the ideas originate.
Funding Information
- Grant Amount: $1,500 $5,000 per event
- For events of particularly high impact, grants over $5,000 may be considered.
Uses of the Funds
- Grant funds must not be used to purchase alcohol or any items inconsistent with the promotion of positive wellbeing.
- Allowable costs include (but are not limited to): food, venue hire, equipment, professional entertainers, trainers or speakers, and supports that promote wellbeing.

- Health Checks
- Creative Workshop
- Film Screening
- Sporting Activity
- Guest Speakers
- Community BBQ
Eligibility Criteria
- Location: The primary beneficiaries of the activity must be members of a Victorian farming community.
- Focus: Applicants should be able to demonstrate how the proposed activity will support mental health and wellbeing.
- Applicants must be a member of the agriculture industry or farming community or be able to demonstrate current links to a local farming community through activities such as supply and services, community support, healthcare providers.
- Eligible applicants include, but are not limited to:
- Community or farmer groups
- Sporting clubs
- Volunteer organisations
- Service providers
- Incorporated bodies
- Private businesses
- Local government organisations
- Healthcare providers
