Asia Pacific Forum on Women, law and Development (APWLD) is inviting grassroots women’s rights organisations for its Climate Justice Feminist Participatory Action Research (CJ FPAR) programme that aims to develop tools and resources that support rural, indigenous, migrant and urban poor women (RIMUP) to monitor, engage and influence climate policies that impact on them.
Priority Areas (Not Limited)
- Displacement caused by natural disasters (floods, typhoons, etc.)
- Displacement caused by slow onset impacts (droughts, sea level rise, salinisation of soil, etc.)
- Displacement programmes/projects that relate to climate change (implementation of market-based mechanisms programmes such as REDD+, fossil fuel exploitation projects such as coal mining, fracking, etc.)
Funding Information
APWLD will provide a small grant to the selected organisations to employ a young woman researcher and carry out the research including salary and on-costs with the approximate amount of USD 10,000.
Eligibility Criteria
- APWLD are seeking non-governmental, non-profit, grassroots based organisations that are:
- Committed towards the enjoyment and realisation of the human rights of women at community level in Asia Pacific, particularly of the most marginalised (young, rural, indigenous, migrant, Dalit women and/or women in other minority groups) and climate justice
- Work directly with the local grassroots women in the community level; either the young researcher or the mentor must come from the community in which the research takes place
- Committed to conducing the 1.5-year-Feminist Participatory Action Research (FPAR) process between January 2017 and June 2018
- Committed to feminist participatory methodologies that increase democratic participation and leadership of marginalised women in the research
- Can provide the appointed researcher with internet and computer access for regular online communication with APWLD secretariat and online training
- APWLD will consider the following when selecting the organisations for this project:
- Sub-regional representation
- Recommendations/ references by members of AWPLD in their country
- Theme of the research project (priority will be given to projects that focus on climate migrants/climate displacement)
