The Aged Care Research & Industry Innovation Australia (ARIIA) is seeking applications for its Grants Program to help the sector build increased workforce capability and capacity through the implementation of evidence-based research findings that lead to scalable and translatable solutions for the aged care sector.

ARIIA will fund projects with a maximum of $160,000 (ex GST) each along with mandatory co-contributions to support translational research projects running for a 12-month period. ARIIA is committed to awarding 60% of these grants to projects that have been developed through the Innovator Training Program and/or Aged Care Partnering Program.
Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible you must:

Be able to address a priority area (Round 3)
- dementia care
- Rehabilitation, Recovery & Restorative Care
- Mental Health & Wellbeing
- social isolation
- Urgent & critical needs

Be a consortium consisting of at least:
- One aged care service provider in partnership with a consumer representative; other
- One research organization (either a university, a publicly funded research organization, or an organization that has a research focus).
- Have a Lead Organization that takes on research compliance and commercial responsibilities as stated in the Grant Agreement. The lead organization must:
- Be incorporated in Australia with an active ABN; other
- Be registered for GST.

Articulate that the project has the potential in Growth and/or Translational Research outcomes. These projects will support/enhance workforce capability and/or improve care delivery and care outcomes for residents and clients.
- Growth projects are those that want to increase capacity to adopt products and technologies for aged care delivery.
- Translational research projects are those that focus on the adoption and implementation of existing research evidence in an aged care setting
- Have a co-contribution of at least 20% (ex GST) that contributes towards eligible project expenditure. For example, for a $200,000 (ex GST) project, a minimum of $40,000 (ex GST) must be co-contributed and cannot be from any other grant sources.

Selection criteria
Applications will be assessed against the following:
- The significance of the problem that the project will address.
- The proposed solution, its impact and expected outcomes, and the strength and relevance of the existing evidence that supports the translation of the proposed solution.
- The project plan is appropriate, the aims are clear and targeted towards the priorities, and the timeline is feasible and well matched to the project aims.
- The project team has the skills and expertise to undertake and deliver the project.
- The budget is appropriate and justified, representing value for the research investment.
- Relevant governance oversight and risk mitigation strategies to support successful project completion.
- Relevant dissemination strategy in place to share outcomes with other organizations and enhance research impact.
- Project feasibility in achieving a translational outcome, translation/commercialization capabilities, and the relevance of the commercialization plan if successful.
