Applications are now open for the auDA Foundation Grants Program to eligible not-for-profit organisations or research institutions for proposals encouraging education and research activities that will enhance the utility of the Internet for the benefit of the Australian community.
The auDA Foundation funds educational and research activities that will enhance utility of the internet for the benefit of all Australians, including digital literacy, funding for digital inclusion, telehealth projects and initiatives to improve internet access for First Nations communities.
Focus Areas
- To be eligible, a project must benefit one of the five key focus groups:
- Rural, regional, and Remote
- Disability
- First Nations
- Older Australians
- Small Business
Eligible Projects
- Eligible proposals must deliver educational or research activities that will enhance the utility of the internet. The auDA Foundation Board is keen to support projects that will achieve practical outcomes through innovative means, i.e. research and development undertaken for the purposes of acquiring new knowledge and/or creating new or improved processes or services.
- The Board are looking to support educational and research activities that focus on the overarching themes of Digital Inclusion and Digital Innovation.
Ineligible Projects
- The auDA Foundation will not support the following types of projects or grant proposal:
- Projects that do not support the auDA Foundation General Objects
- Projects for a religious, political or sectarian purpose;
- Requests for sponsorship;
- Endowments, memorials or named academic chairs;
- Conferences;
- Retrospective costs;
- Projects where the primary focus is outside of Australia;
- The provision of funds for overseas travel;
- General fundraising appeals;
- General operational or administrative functions, including for example firewalls, secure transaction functionality, online search functions or in tranest.
- Training proposals that provide generic IT training, (such as introduction into social networking or trading websites) rather than focusing specifically on internet use that has a specific application relevant to the project;
- Website design (such as development of a new website or redesign of existing website), rather than focusing specifically on delivery of the project using the website;
- Applications that will likely be established in direct opposition to existing commercial enterprises;
- Applications that replicate research currently being undertaken on a commercial basis;
- Applications seeking IT equipment;
- Marketing or market research activities, even where that research is about website usage and/or;
- Applications from individuals. However, students can submit an application that is sponsored by and authorised by an eligible research or not-for-profit organisation.
Eligibility Criteria
- To be eligible for auDA Foundation funding applicants must be:
- A not-for-profit organisation (incorporated and unincorporated); or
- A research institutions including universities; and
- Must be registered in Australia under a Commonwealth, State or Territory law, such as a company, partnership or association.
