The Nillumbik Shire Council is seeking applications for its 2022 Reconciliation Grant to support the community to implement projects that contribute to Reconciliation and the process of healing in Nillumbik.
The Nillumbik Shire Council is committed to creating connected and inclusive communities. The Reconciliation grants can support community-led projects that promote truth-telling, recognition, community connection, cultural and social inclusion, and access and participation for First Nations People.
Council’s commitment to Reconciliation involves:
- Celebrating the rich history, cultures, and achievements of Australian First Nations People as the oldest continuing cultures on the planet
- Addressing the causes of division and misunderstanding between First Nations People and other Australians
- Taking responsibility and ownership of past trauma and injustices
- Addressing inequities in health, education, and justice
- Developing a shared, common understanding between First Nations People and other Australians
Funding Information
- Applications open now until the grant pool of $5,000 has been expended or 31 May 2022, whichever comes first.

Applicants can apply for grants of up to $1,000 for Reconciliation activities or projects delivered during or in recognition of:
- National Sorry Day 26 May
- Reconciliation Week 27 May to 3 June 2022
- NAIDOC Week 3 to 10 July 2022
Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:
- Align their project with the strategic directions and objectives of the Nillumbik Reconciliation Charter and/or the Nillumbik Health and Wellbeing Plan 2021-2025
- Be an incorporated not-for-profit organisation, community group, club, or artist that lives, works, studies, volunteers, or plays in Nillumbik
- Be auspiced by a not-for-profit incorporated organisation if applicants are unincorporated, an individual, or a local commercial business
- Organisations can auspice multiple applications and must ensure they are aware of all of their responsibilities as an auspice
- Hold a minimum of $10 million public liability insurance
- Have acquitted and be compliant with all Nillumbik grants previously awarded by Council
- Spend the funds before 30 June 2023
