The Australian Government is now inviting applications for the 2nd round of the Business Improvement Fund (BIF) to give short-term grants to eligible aged care providers who are experiencing financial challenges.
The grants support small to medium size providers (7 or fewer facilities) located in regional, rural and remote areas.
Grants are provided to improve residential aged care operations and viability, and to assist in the provision of high quality care senior Australians.
BIF – Round 2 is primarily aimed to support small to medium sized residential care providers (ie with 7 or less facilities) that are facing financial pressures which may impact on their ability to offer quality care to residents in regional, rural and remote locations. Other providers may be considered for funding, for instance where they: operate a facility in a thin market or provide facilities to under-serviced, specialized or complex-needs cohorts (even in a metropolitan setting).

Eligibility Criteria
- To be eligible to apply you must be a current approved residential aged care provider that:
- has operational residential aged care facilities in Australia including all NATSIFAC residential providers, and local Government residential providers;
- has received and submits independent business advice (either from the Commonwealth funded, Business Advisory Services Program, other independent business advisory service or has had a review conducted by the department’s Financial Monitoring program. need to be updated to be eligible to apply.
