The Government of South Australia is accepting applications for its Age Friendly SA Grants to provide grant funding for projects that encourage innovation and kick start sustainable, longer term local initiatives that contribute to an age friendly South Australia.
Age Friendly SA Grant applications should focus on important priorities for older South Australians and be inclusive of older people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds, people who identify as gender and/or sexually diverse and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

Funding Information
- The Age Friendly SA 2022-23 Grant Round will provide grants of up to $40,000 for eligible individual organisations, and $60,000 for regional partnerships of three or more eligible organisations, for projects aligned to one or more of the following
What project items can be funded?
- One-off salaries for project staff and labour
- Instructor fees, venue hire or rent
- Transport and travel
- Project administration costs, for example: phone, postage, stationery, photocopying, rental or leasing of office equipment or computers.
What will not be funded?
- Capital works: construction costs, building repairs or alterations e.g. installation of physical resources such as air conditioning systems, fences or toilets.
- Motor vehicles.
- Equipment-only projects – funding for equipment will be considered only as part of a project.
- Applications that duplicate existing services or programs already available to the community.
- Food or beverages (unless required for the program/project e.g. ingredients for cooking classes are eligible but a lunch outing for participants is not).
- Applications established for financial gain by members.
- Applications for which there are more appropriate funding sources e.g. Office for Ageing Well’s Grants for Seniors or Positive Ageing Latest Fellowships and Scholarship Opportunities for NGOs and individuals Grants, or from Grants SA through the Department of Human Services
Eligibility Criteria
- Age Friendly SA Grant applications are only accepted from local governments and equivalent organisations, which includes South Australia’s 68 councils, South Australian Regional Local Government Associations, as well as Aboriginal and Outback Communities.
- To be eligible organisations must be incorporated and not-for-profit. Applicants are encouraged to collaborate with non-government, not-for-profit community organisations, or other relevant partners to deliver projects that support age friendly innovation, partnerships and collaborations at the local level.
