The Queensland Government is inviting applications for its Local Thriving Communities Social and Emotional Wellbeing Grants to support initiatives that are co-designed with local leadership to:
- improve mental health and social and emotional well-being outcomes
- respond to substance misuse
- reduce rates of suicide in Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
Types of Projects
- Types of projects considered include those that:
- work in partnership with local leadership in First Nations communities
- strengthen social and emotional wellbeing outcomes for Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
- address evidence-based community priorities
- demonstrate robust planning, design, and governance mechanisms
- Projects that will not be considered include those that:
- do not have strong community support
- are not financially or operationally feasible to deliver or continue
- duplicate service or action that is already government funded
- Current and previous projects are varied and include initiatives focused on:
- early learning and development
- skills in emotional regulation and impulse control
- community-led decision making on health priorities and suicide prevention strategies
- upskilling community leaders to provide out-of-hours support for people at risk of suicide when other services are not available
Funding Information
- Five grants up to $235,000 (including GST) are available for initiatives delivered in the 2021/22 and 2022/23 financial years.
- The total grant funding amounts to $1.175 million.
Eligibility Criteria
- All Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander-led communities and community organizations across Queensland are eligible to apply.
- Examples of eligible community organizations include:
- local councils
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Health Organisations
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Corporations
- First Nations businesses and academics.
- To be eligible for program funding, the applicant must meet all of the following criteria:
- Not duplicate existing funding for the same service or period.
- Be a registered business and have an Australian Business Number.
- Hold public liability insurance to the value of not less than $10 million, or provide evidence of plans to obtain insurance to the value of not less than $10 million to cover the proposed proposal.
- Be capable of delivering services in Queensland within stated timeframes.
- Be an eligible entity type.
