The Eurobodalla Shire Council has launched the NAIDOC (National Aboriginal and Islander Day Observance Committee) Week Activity Grants Program to provide a special opportunity to celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history, culture and achievements.
Each year Council offers NAIDOC Week activity grants to community groups, schools and non-profits to assist in the delivery of activities celebrating NAIDOC in Eurobodalla.
Grants are awarded to projects or initiatives that make a positive contribution to the community, promote the understanding of NAIDOC and demonstrate creativity, vision and originality.
NAIDOC Week 2022 runs from Sunday 3 July to Sunday 10 July with the theme Heal Country!
Funding Information
NAIDOC Week activity grants up to $500.
Guidelines
- NAIDOC Week Grants must be used during NAIDOC Week 2022 unless otherwise negotiated.
- The funding must be used for the project described on the application form and take place in the Eurobodalla Shire. Funds are not transferable to another organisation or project.
- Projects will not be funded in retrospect, that is your activity must occur after the grant has been issued.
- Successful applicants are required to sign a waiver prior to the grant monies being issued. The waiver absolves Eurobodalla Shire Council of all liability in relation to your group’s grant funded activity.
- Successful applicants must give appropriate acknowledgment of Council’s support for the project on all publicity material, reports and awards.
- Ensure that your group has adequate insurance coverage for your activity. Eurobodalla Shire Council accepts no responsibility for activities conducted through its’ grant programs.
- Council is not obliged to give the full amount nominated in your application. Your group should have alternate plans for funding its planned activity.
- Successful applicants are encouraged to provide Council with a written report by 30 November 2022. The report should include information about how the grant was spent and the benefits the activity provided to the community.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applications must meet all of the following eligibility criteria:
- Your group needs to be not-for-profit and either incorporated or able to prove that they are a bona fide Eurobodalla based community group.
- Your group can contribute some financial support or volunteer labour to the activity.
- Your group can show that it has adequate insurance coverage for the activity.
- Your group does not have any outstanding debts to Council.
- Your group will use the grant to achieve one or more of the following outcomes in your local community:
- Encourages people in the wider community to celebrate and participate in NAIDOC week activities.
- Promotes an understanding of NAIDOC.
- Develops partnerships with the Aboriginal community and/or Aboriginal organisations.
- Provides an opportunity for Aboriginal people to celebrate and promote their history and culture.
- Develops original, creative projects or initiatives which encourage the community to learn about, reflect upon and acknowledge the unique contribution of Australia’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
- Successful applicants are required to:
- Provide bank details for electronic transfer of funds
- Sign and comply with the funding agreement accepting the conditions of funding
- Allow Council to include the activity in Eurobodalla Shire Council’s NAIDOC Week event calendar
