The Scanlon Foundation’s annual community grants round for 2019 will fund projects that support the transition of migrants into employment or support practical English literacy.

Projects should consider the experience of migrants and of receiving communities and aim to nurture positive outcomes.

All submissions are also expected to empower new arrival communities and develop cross cultural connections.

Funding Information

This year’s community grants will provide funding up to a maximum of $25,000.

Projects must be located in one of the following Local Government Areas outside Victoria:

Key Criteria

The Scanlon Foundation is looking to support projects that demonstrate their contribution to social cohesion by:

Pathways to Employment: Grants in this category are looking to actively support people into employment. Successful applicants will go beyond resume writing and interview skills to actively engaging with local employers.

English literacy: Grants in this category will focus on English literacy. Specifically, programs will teach applied and conversational English which can be used in both day-to-day and work environments.

Successful projects will need to fulfill the criteria relevant to either ‘pathways to employment’ OR ‘literacy’ above. In addition all grants will be assessed against the innovation criteria. Innovation The Foundation is particularly interested in exploring new and innovative ways to engage, empower and connect communities.

Expressions of interest can be made by DGR1 eligible organizations for grants of up to $25,000 through Smartygrants.
