The Central Highlands Regional Council (CHRC) is currently accepting proposals for its 2021 Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) to promote the role and value of arts, culture and heritage as key drivers of diverse and inclusive communities and strong regions.
RADF is a flexible fund, enabling local councils to tailor RADF programs to suit the needs of their communities. RADF invests in local arts and cultural priorities, as determined by local communities across Queensland.
Objectives
RADF objectives are to support arts and cultural activities that:
- provide public value for Queensland communities
- build local cultural capacity, cultural innovation and community well-being
- deliver Queensland Government’s objectives for the community
Priorities
- Support a diverse economy stimulating local artists though arts and cultural activity.
- Support creative recovery and community social/emotional well-being.
- Invest in locally determined priorities delivered through quality arts, cultural and heritage activities linking to growing Queensland’s cultural reputation and cultural tourism offerings.
- Deliver priorities meeting the strategic arts, cultural and heritage documents: Creative Cultural Futures 2016-2026, the Heritage Management Framework, the Creative Cultural Futures and Heritage Action Plan 2020-2022, the Reconciliation Action Plan and the Central Highlands Youth Strategy which identify community and council objectives for the region.
- Provide access to and engagement in arts and culture for isolated communities, practitioners, participants and audiences. Encouraging inclusive community and stakeholder involvement in RADF priority setting and decision making.
- Support arts, heritage and cultural tourism initiatives.
- Facilitate regional arts, cultural, history and heritage planning and programming.
- Develop diverse partner projects and programs.
Categories
You can apply for funding under the following categories:
- Community consultation, arts strategy and policy development.
- Skills development workshops .
- Artist/s participating in professional or career development activity.
- Cultural tourism.
- Creative development of new work (concept development).
- Events and festivals.
- Exhibitions and collections.
- Performances.
- Placemaking.
- Conferences and training sessions delivered for artists and cultural workers.
Eligibility Criteria
The following categories of individuals and organisations can apply for a RADF grant.

Individual professional artists, emerging professional artists, arts workers, cultural workers or project coordinators who are:
- Based in the Central Highlands local government area. If based outside the area, they must demonstrate how the project will benefit arts and culture in the region.
- Permanent residents or Australian citizens who have an Australian Business Number (ABN) or are sponsored by an incorporated organisation or individual with an ABN.
- Incorporated arts and cultural organisations based in the Central Highlands local government area. If based outside the region, they must demonstrate how the project will benefit arts and culture in the region.
- Unincorporated organisations sponsored by an incorporated body, based in the Central Highlands local government area. If based outside the region, they must demonstration how the project will benefit arts and culture in the region.
