The Food and Agribusiness Growth Centre, trading as FIAL, is delighted to launch the Cluster Grant Program 2021 to help businesses, government and researchers unite to tackle challenges in regions and/or cities.
By working together for the common good, stakeholders in the cluster can take advantage of market opportunities either domestically or overseas.
Objectives
Proposals must address one or more of the Growth Centre objectives:
- Improving international opportunities and market access
- Enhancing management and workforce skills
- Increasing collaboration and commercialization
- Identifying opportunities for regulatory reform
Funding Information
- The Cluster Grant Program provides matched funding to eligible applicants (Clusters) to the value of $150,000. Applicants (Cluster Applicants) with eligible projects of a minimum of $300,000 are encouraged to apply. Applications requesting funding of less than $150,000 are not eligible.
- A minimum of 50 per cent of the $150,000 Cluster grant (i.e. $75,000) must be matched in cash and the remaining 50 per cent may be matched with in-kind contributions. Government sources (State, Territory and Local) can provide a maximum of $37,500 of cash towards the cash contributions of the Cluster Applicant.
- Through 1:1 matched funding, this support Program encourages businesses, public agencies, researchers, and educational institutions to align and work together, to build on their competitive advantage, address opportunities and develop solutions to challenges that they otherwise could not resolve on their own.
Eligibility Criteria
- FIAL will fund applications submitted by a Cluster, or on behalf of a Cluster. Applicants must be incorporated as alegal entity and have an Australian Company Number (ACN) or Australian Business Number (ABN); or they must agree to be incorporated and obtain anACN or ABN at some point, prior to signing the Funding Agreement with FIAL.
- The proposal should identify:
- The strategic position, vision, and the growth potential of the Cluster within the contexts of Australia, and globally.
- Strong market insight and evidence of customer/consumer/market pull including the Cluster’s functional region and development obstacles.
- The potential for mobilization of participants to address the functional region and development obstacles or realise global market opportunities.
- The opportunity for the creation and application of new research-based knowledge that is an Australian or world first.
- The willingness of Cluster participants to partner and collaborate in this proposal (this can be demonstrated through a letter of intent or commitment from the Cluster management committee).
