The French National Research Agency is calling projects for its “Autonomy: Aging and Situations of Disability”.
Funded by the “France 2030” plan to the tune of 30 million euros over the period 2021-2026, this program specifically targets autonomy in connection with advancing age or situations of disability. The CNRS is responsible for steering this program, which should lead to major scientific and technical progress enabling France to meet human, social, demographic, health and economic challenges.
Types of Challenges
- Challenge 3: Illuminate life situations and experiences of empowerment and reduced autonomy
- Proposed projects should analyze the contexts, situations and experiences of empowerment and reduced autonomy, both from the point of view of institutional and contextual factors (living, employment, housing, public and private facilities, the fabric of associations, access to social and health policies, etc.) and from the point of view of individuals, their characteristics (gender, social, ethnic, sexual orientation, etc.) and their personal stories (birth, illnesses, accidents, age transitions).
- Challenge 4: shed light on the design, reception and uses of innovative devices and experiments
- This challenge aims to study the design, reception and uses of innovative devices and experiments (existing or not, whether technological, social, organizational, etc.) in terms of compensation, replacement, adaptation of the environment and human accompaniment of people with a view to their autonomy. These innovative devices and experiments can relate to various areas of life (communication, mobility, social relations and interactions, etc.) in the context of different social activities (work, leisure, education, housing, civic life, sport and physical activities, etc. .).
Funding Information
- The research projects funded under this call will have a duration of 3 to 5 years. The amount of aid allocated within the framework of France 2030 will be from 1 to 3.5 million euros maximum per project. All projects must include a “training through research” component, by funding master’s students, doctoral students and post-doctoral students responsible for carrying out the research project.
- This call for projects has an envelope of 19 million euros.
Evaluation Criteria
The projects will be examined by the scientific jury according to the following criteria:
- Registration in the general objective of the call for projects, relevance of the project with regard to the general objective of the program and the priorities and expectations (cf. part 2);
- Scientific excellence:
- Clarity and relevance of objectives, research hypotheses and choices project methodology;
- Quality of the results already acquired by the members of the consortium, including in other areas than those covered by the call;
- Quality of the consortium:
- Quality of the profile of the scientific manager and the coordination team of the consortium, particularly with regard to its ability to steer the project;
- Quality of the teams mobilized within the framework of the project;
- Degree, nature and clarity of contributions from multi- or interdisciplinary collaborations;
- Degree and nature of the involvement of stakeholders in the field of autonomy;
- Ability to establish international collaborations and develop related knowledge with international scientific production;
- Organization and means mobilized:
- Adequacy of the human and financial resources mobilized to the objectives targeted by the project;
- Quality of the consortium ‘s governance system;
- Quality of work organization within the consortium (between teams, between researchers, between disciplines, with stakeholders, etc.);
- Relevance of the project process (schedule) and intermediate and final deliverables proposed;
- Impacts:
- Quality of the scientific promotion system;
- Quality of the valuation system for stakeholders in the field of autonomy;
- In terms of spin-offs and future innovations, whether theoretical, methodological or in terms of public policy and intervention).
