Better Bayswater Grant to deliver Programs of benefit to residents (Australia)

The City of Bayswater is seeking applications for its Better Bayswater Grant under Community Grants Program. The purpose of the Better Bayswater Grant is to provide financial assistance to eligible organisations to deliver programs, projects, and activities of benefit to residents.

Due to the impacts that COVID-19 has had on the community and local economy, the City of Bayswater is committed to supporting the recovery of its community and local businesses through an array of initiatives, including its Better Bayswater Grant. The City has therefore made some amendments to its Better Bayswater Grants criteria to ensure that priority is given to grant applications that directly or indirectly assist in community recovery.

Priority Areas

• Health and Wellbeing
  • Activities to promote mental health and wellbeing. These may include initiatives to reduce stress and anxiety or encourage physical activity by community members;
• Community Connection
  • Programs and projects that encourage the development of networks to strengthen local communities and reduce social isolation;
• Support for Vulnerable People
  • Programs and projects to support people experiencing social isolation, food insecurity, domestic violence or homelessness; and/or
• Economic Security
  • Programs and projects to develop employment and financial skills.

Funding Information

• $20,000 is allocated in the 2020/21 annual budget to support two Better Bayswater Grant funding rounds.

Eligibility Criteria

• The City of Bayswater invites applications from incorporated or auspiced individuals/ community groups.
• Businesses and sole traders may partner with a local community group to deliver an initiative to address local community priorities that have arisen as a result of COVID-19. However, such applications must be made under the auspice of an incorporated organisation.
• All applicants must be able to deliver the project within the current (and evolving) COVID-19 stage-appropriate requirements.
