BLM Oregon Washington Secure Rural Schools, Title II Grants Program (US)

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is accepting applications for the Oregon Washington Secure Rural Schools, Title II Grants Program.

Purpose

The purposes of this Act are:

• to stabilize and transition payments to counties to provide funding for schools and roads that supplements other available funds; 
• to make additional investments in, and create additional employment opportunities through, projects that –
  • improve the maintenance of existing infrastructure, 
  • implement stewardship objectives that enhance forest ecosystems; and 
  • restore and improve land health and water quality; 
  • enjoy broad-based support; and 
  • have objectives that may include – 
  • road, trail, and infrastructure maintenance or obliteration; 
  • soil productivity improvement; 
  • improvements in forest ecosystem health;
  • watershed restoration and maintenance; 
  • the restoration, maintenance, and improvement of wildlife and fish habitat;
  • the control of noxious and exotic weeds; and 
  • the reestablishment of native species; and
• to improve cooperative relationships among –
  • the people that use and care for Federal land; and 
  • the agencies that manage the Federal land.

• Maximum Award: $250,000
• Minimum Award: $5,000
• Anticipated Number of Awards: 50

Eligibility Criteria

• Public housing authorities/Indian housing authorities
• Individuals
• Nonprofits that do not have a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education
• Independent school districts
• Native American tribal governments (Federally recognized)
• Private institutions of higher education
• City or township governments
• State governments
• Special district governments
• Nonprofits having a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education
• County governments
• Public and State controlled institutions of higher education
• Native American tribal organizations (other than Federally recognized tribal governments)
