The Junior Achievement Bulgaria has launched the Funding for Coding and Programming Projects within the framework of EU Code Week.
The portfolio of educational products and services includes programs in 3 thematic areas: entrepreneurship, financial literacy and work skills. By participating in the EU CodeWeek initiatives, JA Bulgaria aims to strengthen the importance of digital education and encourage the active participation of different communities in creating sustainable educational partnerships.
What is EU Code Week?
- EU Code Week is a pan-European initiative supported by the European Commission that aims to promote creativity, logical thinking and digital literacy through coding and other technological activities. The event brings together teachers, students, young people, parents and organisations from across Europe who share a passion for digital creativity and innovation.
What is Code4Europe?
- To expand the impact and reach of the EU Code Week initiative, European organisations with expertise in education, innovation and digital skills have come together in a common consortium and created the Code4Europe project. By creating sustainable and regional hubs for coordination, exchange and good practice, the consortium aims to encourage participation in digital education and create an active network of trainers, coordinators and engaged communities across Europe.
Purpose and Scope
- This call aims to identify and support local projects aligned with the EU Code Week mission to promote programming, algorithmic thinking and digital skills among young people aged 6 to 25. These include:
- Providing an opportunity to develop innovative and flexible digital skills development activities.
- Supporting initiatives that integrate coding into educational contexts and encourage engagement.
- Encourage community participation and stimulate collaboration among stakeholders.
- Prioritizing projects that offer a gender equal start and promote diversity in STEM education.
Funding Information
- Grants, totaling up to BGN 10,000 in this funding round, will be awarded to approved candidates in two categories:
- Category 1 – from 500 to 1000 BGN (up to 7 projects)
- Category 2 – from 1000 to 3000 BGN (up to 7 projects).
What projects can be financed?
- All projects must be related to coding or digital skills and be in line with the objectives of EU Code Week. Projects in one of the following categories will be funded:
- Developing and piloting an innovative approach/activity;
- Expanding an existing approach/activity to new schools, a group of schools and/or a region;
- Promoting community engagement with digital initiatives.
Eligibility Criteria
- Eligible candidates are:
- Schools (preschool, primary, secondary and higher education);
- Libraries, community centers and similar institutional structures;
- Non-governmental organizations (NGOs);
- Private organizations and programming clubs;
- Organizations specializing in technology and algorithmic thinking.
Ineligibility Criteria
- Activities that are not allowed:
- Renovation of the candidate’s premises, purchase of office furniture, IT equipment for the candidate’s employees;
- Covering current expenses for the candidate’s activities;
- Activities of a religious or political nature;
- Carrying out business activities;
- Remuneration of project team members.
