Call for Proposals: “Emergency initiative in favor of the most Vulnerable sections of the Afghan Population”

The U.S. Department of State Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor (DRL) announces an open competition for organizations interested in submitting applications in response to the “Promoting and Protecting: Women’s Rights in Marriage, Free and Fair Elections, Rule of Law & Marginalized Communities.

Program Objectives

  • U.S. human rights and democracy assistance will contribute to a stable Pakistan by promoting governance based on democratic principles, respect for human rights, and peaceful coexistence. It will also provide for the protection of, and advocacy for, the rights of the most vulnerable, including youth, women, religious and ethnic minorities, persons with disabilities, and LGBTQI persons, as well as mitigate the impact of conflict on Pakistani communities.
  • Proposed programming must be responsive to immediate needs on the ground; must be in line with the U.S. Government’s democracy, governance, and human rights goals in Pakistan; and should contribute to and support Pakistani efforts to strengthen democracy, good governance, and human rights in the country.

Focus Areas

  • Promoting Women’s Rights in Marriage:  $1,000,000-$1,500,000 for 2 years;
  • Promoting Democratic Participation among in Newly Merged Districts: $1,000,000-$1,500,000 for 2 years;
  • Promoting Alternative Dispute Resolution: $1,000,000-$2,000,000 for 2 years;
  • Marginalized Populations Small Grants Program: $750,000 for 2 years.
