The Inner North Community Foundation is seeking applications for its C19 Disaster Relief Fund to support local community organisations and their work in the current pandemic period.
The Disaster Relief Fund will provide up to $1,500 for projects that directly service vulnerable cohorts impacted by Covid-19. Priority will be given to small to medium charities with less capacity to fundraise. All applicant organisations must be open and inclusive, actively engaged in community activity, and be significantly comprised of people who live, work, and volunteer or study in Darebin, Moreland and Yarra.
Funding Information
Amount: up to $1,500
They will fund community projects that:
- Deliver, practical, creative and innovative solutions to emerging challenges in the community
- Are charitable activities that provide whole-of-community benefit
- Are feasible and ready to begin quickly
- Strengthen the diverse communities of Melbourne’s Inner North.
Target activity for funding
Grants of up to $1,500 are available to support projects responding to Covid-19, which assist people in Darebin, Moreland and Yarra. Priority will be given to projects which may demonstrate:
- Building Community Resilience (e.g.: projects that facilitate community connectedness, support and develop volunteer community groups, and community preparedness to respond to the impacts of Covid-19).
- Developing Organisational Resilience and Capacity (e.g.: projects that strengthen local not-for profit organisation’s operational infrastructure, upgrading of equipment to improve service delivery,).
- Fostering Cultural Vibrancy (e.g.: projects that celebrate, preserve and promote local culture and identity, creative projects that foster the arts, and support for local artists and the arts community).
- Emergency Relief: support for emergency relief providers to respond to local people in financial hardship (i.e. culturally appropriate food, costs associated with delivering ER services)
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must be organisations that:
- Are located in the municipalities of Darebin, Moreland or Yarra and the majority of beneficiaries live in those areas.
- Are not-for-profit or community-based organisations that are:
- endorsed as a Charitable Institution by the Australian Charities and Not for Profits Commission (ACNC)
- or not-for-profit organisations registered under the Associations Incorporation Act undertaking charitable activities in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
- Have proven capacity and relevant public liability insurances
- Are categorised by the ACNC as small or medium organisations (i.e. annual turnover less than $1M) with reporting publicly available. Large organisations may be considered if funding directly benefits vulnerable people in Darebin, Moreland or Yarra.
