Network for rural development of Serbia, in front of a partner consortium, announces a call for civil society organizations (CSOs) for launch and implement green entrepreneurship projects within the project “NAGE – Networking and Advocacy for Green Economy” funded by the European Union, and implemented by 7 partner organizations from the Balkan (Rural Development Network of North Macedonia (lead partner), Croatian network for rural development, Network for Rural Development in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Network of Organizations for Rural Development of Kosovo, Network for Rural Development of Montenegro, Network for Rural Development of Serbia and Albanian Network for Rural Development).
Financial support should help to strengthen local CSOs through capacity building and implementation of their initiatives and raising awareness of the importance of a green economy and green entrepreneurship.
Objectives
- The objective of this Call for proposals is to initiate and pilot green entrepreneurship projects through grassroots CSOs.
- Additionally the sub-granting is expected to contribute to strengthening local CSOs through capacity building and implementation of their initiatives and to raising the overall awareness on the importance on green economy, green entrepreneurship and work of civil society organisations.
Themes
This Call is intended for civil society organisations working in one or several of the following thematic areas:
- sustainable development, environmental protection and climate change,
- socio-economic development,
- education,
- social policies and services,
- youth work and policies,
- women economic empowerment,
- volunteering,
- agriculture and rural development
Expected Results
- Sub-granted 36 CSOs from 6 countries with 126.000 Euro;
- 36 green entrepreneurship actions implemented by grassroots CSOs;
- Local CSOs work and importance promoted among general public;
Furthermore, the effects of the green entrepreneurship actions will be monitored and measured to anticipate the risks, evaluate the hindrances the CSOs faced during the implementation, as well as access the strengths and positives effects of the implemented projects, in order to define evidence-based policy solutions that will introduce legally and sustain the concept of green entrepreneurship in the project-represented countries.
Type of Activities
Types of activities which may be financed under this call (the list is not exhaustive):
- Entrepreneurial actions with high sensitivity to environmental problems (green entrepreneurship)
- Activities with a net positive effect to the natural environment
- Activities for preservation of natural environment and landscape
- Green activities that contribute to sustainable future of rural areas
- Training actions and field trips related to green entrepreneurship
- Organisation of conferences, round tables, workshops and seminars (a limited number in terms of days and events per proposed action) related to green entrepreneurship
- Drafting policy or legislation recommendations for “greening” the economy in rural areas
- Educational campaigns on green economy concept
- Publication of leaflets, manuals on best practice
- Testing of innovative approaches
- Pilot income generating activities aimed at ensuring continuity of the action beyond the end of the contract;
- Actions aimed at ensuring adequate outreach towards grassroots and other types of local non- governmental organisations.
Funding Information
The overall indicative amount available for financial support to civil society organisations for implementation of their projects under this Call for proposals is 126,000 EUR, or 21,000 EUR per country.
Any grant requested for individual projects must fall between the following amounts:
- Minimum amount of the grant EUR 3.000
- Maximum amount of the grant EUR 3.500
Any project proposal requesting a grant which does not fall between the above-mentioned amounts will not be accepted. Co-financing by the applicant is not envisaged under this Call. The Contracting Authority reserves the right not to award all funds available under this Call.
Duration
The planned duration of a project may not be lower than 3 months nor exceed 6 months.
Place of implementation
Project activities must be implemented on the territory of Republic of Serbia.
Eligibility Criteria
- Organisations registered in accordance with the existing laws of Republic of Serbia, which fulfil the following conditions have the right to apply within this Call:
- Be legal persons and
- Be non profit making and
- Be nationals of Serbia
- Be registered at least 12 months prior to the deadline for submissions of project proposals
- and registered as non-profit organizations with main focus in one of the following areas
- Agriculture and rural development
- Ecology and environment protection
- Socio-economic development i.e. CSOs which function as social enterprises
- Education, Social policies and services, youth work and policies, women economic empowerment, volunteering and similar.
If awarded the grant contract, the applicant will become the beneficiary identified as the Coordinator in the Grant Contract. The Coordinator is the main interlocutor of the Contracting Authority. It represents and acts on behalf of any other associates (if any) and coordinates the design and implementation of the action. The Coordinator is directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action.
Note: Individuals, political parties, international and foreign organisations, government institutions and religious organisations cannot participate in this Call for proposals.
