The United States Agency for International Development in Peru (USAID/Peru) is seeking applications for a Cooperative Agreement from qualified entities to implement the Innovation for Sustainable Value Chain activity.

Funding Priorities and Technical Focus Areas

USAID has been implementing Alternative Development (AD) activities for over 20 years and helped thousands of rural families escape the poverty trap brought about by narco-trafficking. Despite the improvements in yields and product quality of the major AD value chains (cacao and coffee), and increases in incomes, the consolidation of all these efforts could be hampered by:

Thus, USAID is seeking innovative development or business models that reduce or eliminate the pressure on Peruvian forests. This model shall strengthen a market of services that ensures the provision of credit, technology, information, supplies and technical assistance, to increase productivity, household incomes, and the profitability of rural businesses, enabling social, economic, and environmentally sustainable livelihoods.

This activity will directly support two of the three Intermediate results (IRs) of USAID Peru’s Development Objective:

Finally, this new environmentally sensitive5 development model will be implemented in some of the Strategic Intervention Zones (ZEIs in Spanish) of Peru’s Commission for Development and Life without Drugs (DEVIDA), as relevant and will potentially scale up and expand to other areas of the country.

USAID intends to award one Cooperative Agreement pursuant to this notice of funding opportunity. Subject to funding availability and at the discretion of the Agency, USAID intends to provide approximately $12,000,000.00 in total USAID funding.
