The Calala Women’s Fund, together with other European women’s and feminist funds, Ecumenical Women’s Initiative and Mediterranean Women’s Fund, implements the “SEE Change” project, financed by the European Union to prevent gender violence and guarantee adequate support for survivors.
Calala Women’s Fund has 15 years of experience promoting the rights, participation and strengthening of women’s, feminist and sexual dissident organizations in Central America and the Spanish State.
Within the framework of the “SEE Change” project, Calala opens this call for donations aimed at organizations active in the Spanish State that present proposals focused on the prevention and attention of gender violence in any of its dimensions. It is essential that the prevention and addressing of violence have an intersectional perspective, which allows dimensioning the different forms of violence and the diverse circumstances that condition the lives of women and/or sexual and gender dissidents.
This call aims to contribute significantly to the strengthening of small and medium-sized organizations, through the financing of their strategies to prevent and address gender violence.
Funding Information
- It is important to know that the total financing granted in this call must be a minimum of 10,000 euros and a maximum of 60,000 euros in total for a two year project.
- The selected projects must be executed within a period of 24 months: July 15, 2024 to July 14, 2026.
- These proposals may be presented by organizations with small or medium structure and budgets:
- They may submit proposals for a minimum budget of 5 thousand euros per year and a maximum of 30 thousand euros per year.
- Each organization may request a maximum of double its 2023 annual budget, with a maximum requested budget of 30 thousand euros.
- The indirect costs of the project must not exceed 7% of the total requested cost.
- The project presented can request a donation for 100% of the budget necessary for its implementation. It is not necessary for the organization to have co-financing or assume any percentage of the budget presented.
Eligible Projects
- Organizations may submit projects and strategies that incorporate the following eligible activities, but this is not an exhaustive list:
- Prevention activities and work for the eradication of gender violence with an intersectional perspective.
- Provision of direct support to women and sexual dissidents who suffer gender violence, such as legal advice, psychological support, support groups, collective care activities, helplines, counseling, shelters for women, etc.
- Coalitions and alliances between civil society organizations in the field of prevention and eradication of gender violence.
- Lobbying/advocacy to influence decision-making and policy processes at the local, state, European and/or international level in the field of prevention and work for the eradication of gender violence.
- Promotion of the implementation of the laws adopted in the field of prevention and attention to gender violence.
- Research aimed at analyzing prevention and response strategies to gender violence, the dimensions and characteristics of specific forms of gender violence, the analysis of gender violence from an intersectional perspective, etc.
- Mobilization, awareness and communication activities in the field of prevention and eradication of gender violence.
- Actions that promote culture and art as a tool for prevention, transformation and/or healing.
- Address gender stereotypes as fundamental causes of gender violence.
- Community mobilization with direct participation of target groups (for example, working with survivors of violence, with cultural mediators, with community leaders, etc.).
- Training programs on prevention or care for victims/survivors of gender violence.
Eligibility Criteria
- The following are essential criteria that applicant organizations must meet:
- Non-profit organizations with legal personality in the Spanish State.
- Respect for the values of the European Union.
- Commitment to women’s rights and/or women’s and feminist movements.
- Organizations integrated and led by women and/or sexual and gender dissidents (trans, non-binary people, and women in all their diversity: lesbians, bisexuals, trans and cis women).
- Projects must be focused on preventing and/or addressing gender violence in any of its dimensions.
- Proposals presented by:
- Organizations that have no or limited access to public funding, including funding from the European Union.
- Organizations with a small structure and an annual budget of less than 50,000 EUR.
- Organizations in the first 5 years of operation.
- Grassroots organizations doing work at the local level.
- Organizations that work on the prevention and/or attention to gender violence with an intersectional approach that includes other forms of discrimination, such as race/ethnicity, immigration status, domestic work, economic precariousness, sexual orientation, gender identity , youth and/or disability, among others.
- Organizations led and integrated by rural women, migrant women, domestic and care workers, sexual and gender dissidents (lesbian, trans, bisexual, non-binary), young women, racialized women, indigenous, Afro-descendant and/or women with disabilities.
- Organizations that have ethical measures and/or protocols to guarantee that the well-being and perspectives of women survivors of violence are at the center of their intervention, as well as to guarantee the safety of the professionals involved.
- Organizations that work with innovative approaches or on emerging issues.
