The International Renaissance Foundation (IRF) has announced an open call for “Human Rights in conditions of war” competition to support the activities of civil society organizations that act to protect human rights, defend the principles of democracy and the rule of law, human rights standards, in accordance with the requirements of the EU and the Council of Europe.
The purpose of the competition: analysis of existing practices and assistance in the formation of policies that have an impact on the state of human rights and fundamental freedoms in Ukraine.
The fund does not provide grants to political parties, religious communities, private (individual) persons, as well as business entities that aim to make a profit.
Funding Information
- The minimum amount of the grant is 1,000,000 hryvnias.
- The maximum amount of the grant is 4,000,000 hryvnias.
- The average size of the grant is 2,000,000 hryvnias.
- The total budget of the competition is 20,000,000 hryvnias.
- The project implementation period is up to 12 months.
Eligible Funding Activities
- Independent monitoring of the observance of human rights and fundamental freedoms.
- Studying the practice of applying legislation limiting human rights under martial law, forming proposals for its reform.
- Legal assistance in case of violation or application of disproportionate restrictions on human rights, including: freedom and personal integrity, torture and ill-treatment or punishment, privacy, expression, peaceful assembly, freedom of association, property rights, etc.
- Development of proposals regarding the possibilities of applying the mechanisms and tools of transitional justice to overcome the negative consequences of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation in Ukraine.
Selection Criteria
- Compliance with the thematic priorities of the competition;
- Experience and expertise of organizations;
- Confirmed cooperation with other partners;
- Realistic achievement of expected results and compliance with the purpose of the competition;
- Correspondence of the budget to the planned activity and the expected results.
