Call for EOIs: Standby Partners for implementation of Lean Season Assistance and other Emergency Response Programmes (Zimbabwe)

The World Food Programme (WFP) Zimbabwe Country Office is calling for an Expression of Interest from registered and experienced Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) to be standby partners for the implementation of the Lean Season Assistance (LSA) programme and Emergency response programmes.

The LSA programme aims to provide access to food through a seasonal social safety net to the most vulnerable households affected by food shortages in the most food insecure districts. LSA is part of the broader set of social safety net instruments under the national social protection framework, through which the Government of Zimbabwe, WFP and Partners provide cash and/or food transfers to targeted households to reduce food insecurity.

Eligibility Criteria

• The selection of potential partners will be based on the following criteria:
  • Ability to demonstrate capacity to successfully implement humanitarian food security/social assistance programmes in rural areas in Zimbabwe, including experience with in-kind & cash-based assistance, community activities and livelihood programmes;
  • Ability to demonstrate an effective and efficient implementation of project activities and use of resources, reaching a maximum number of food insecure individuals with limited resources;
  • Proven competence to operate effectively and professionally with UN agencies, donors, and Government counterparts, including local authorities;
  • Ability to co-finance, either by cash or in-kind (e.g. human resources, Office space, vehicles);
  • Clarity of objectives, linkages to SDGs, national and local food security and social protection strategies and priorities, and relevance to WFP Country Strategic Plan and its implementation modalities;
  • The interested NGO must have a signed MOU with the district authorities of the district(s) of interest or submit proof that they are in the process of signing one;
  • Applications must be submitted in English.
