Space118 is seeking applications to provide emerging independent artists and art writers with a platform to showcase their work and grow within a diverse art community in India. Space118 wish to be a part of creating the future of the next best artist and talent pool in the country.
Space118 Fine Art grant 2019-20 will be given to only ONE artist for a 2 months residency from 1st November, 2019- 8th January, 2020 at Space118. This would include a production grant of upto 1 lakh rupees along with complimentary travel and accommodation. The recipient also gets a two month exhibition in January and February which will open with the Mumbai Gallery Weekend in Mumbai.
The recipient for 2019-20 will be chosen by a jury that comprises of prominent members of the industry including Shilpa Gupta-Artist, Mortimer Chatterjee-Gallerist and Anurag Khanna-Collector.
Timelines
- Announcement of the winner: October 2019
- Duration of the grant: 1st November, 2019 to mid January, 2020
- Open Studio Day during the Mumbai Gallery Weekend from 8-12th of January, 2020
- Exhibition: The show will remain on for two months- January and February, 2020
Eligibility Criteria
- An Indian artist under the age of 40 who has a B.F.A. degree with at least 5 years of experience can apply for the grant.
- The Space118 Fine Art Grant is only for Fine Artists. However, there’s a Space118 Contemporaries Residencies for Art Writers that you can apply for.
