The UNESCO Almaty has launched its Call for project proposals Open solutions for inclusive and open distance learning in Central Asia to support people with disabilities access to quality learning opportunities.
UNESCO Almaty will provide overall leadership for the project and approve the corresponding activities / changes in the original schedule.
Adequate learning opportunities that address inclusion and accessibility issues have vital to ensure that all citizens, including people with disability, were active participants and contributed to the economic and social the growth of Knowledge Societies increasingly reliant on technology.
These include governments, institutions, developers curriculum, educators and quality assurance and recognition authorities, and also industry and developers, families and, most importantly, people with disabilities opportunities. Their goal is to support people with disabilities access to quality learning opportunities. through ODL through the use of open source solutions (OER, OD and FOSS)
Goal
- The overall goal of the project is to promote universal access to information through open and inclusive solutions and innovative use of ICTs for sustainable development promoted in Central Asian countries.
Activities & Results
Activities
- Dissemination of information on the guidance “Guidelines for the inclusion of learners with disability in open distance learning ”in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, including explaining and facilitating the use of checklists to support students with disabilities in open education through seminars and webinars.
- Adaptation and translation of checklists;
- Defining Open Educational Resources (OER), Free Open Source Software source code in Central Asian countries (Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan)
- Use of survey data in an open format;
- Translation into Kazakh, Kyrgyz and Tajik languages the most demanded materials and resources.
- Conduct national consultations with MES interested in institutions and other partners in the Kyrgyz Republic to presentation of desk research results and work results
Result
- Member States have taken measures to promote universal access to information through open and inclusive solutions and innovative using ICT for sustainable development
Outputs
- Number of Member States that contributed to the creation of a high-quality and inclusive learning environment, including through open educational resources; and who used an online, open and flexible learning for sustainable development
- Skills in localized inclusive open solutions (LIOR) improved.
