Aidsfonds has announced a call for proposals for the 2022-2023 grants for advocacy on HIV and sexual and reproductive health and rights for key populations in South Africa and Mozambique.

This call for proposals from Aidsfonds is part of the Love Alliance: a strategic partnership between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, Aidsfonds, UHAI EASHRI, AFE, ISDAO, GALZ, Sisonke, SANPUD and GNP+ which runs from 2021 to 2025.

The Love Alliance aims to improve the sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) of sex workers, people who use drugs, LGBTIQ+ people including people living with HIV in Africa through advocacy at national, global, and regional levels. The Love Alliance works towards a significant reduction in HIV incidence by influencing policies, organising communities and raising awareness on health rights in ten countries. Love Alliance brings together organisations led by the communities which are most affected by HIV and AIDS across Africa.

Funding Information

The project duration must not exceed 21 months. Specifically, activities under the project must take place between 1st April 2022 till 31st December 2023. Each application can consist of a minimum of EUR 10,000 to a maximum amount of EUR 100,000 per year. Aidsfonds is looking to fund 3 to 4 organisations in South Africa and 1 to 2 organisation in Zimbabwe. The total available amount under this call is €530,000 for South Africa and €195,000 for Zimbabwe. Out of this entire amount for both countries, €200,000 is specifically reserved for organisations led by and working with communities of people who use drugs.

Who is this call for?

This call is for organisations and networks led by LGBTIQ+ people, sex workers, people who use drugs, including people living with HIV and/or young key populations in South Africa and Zimbabwe. They specifically encourage organisations working with people who use drugs to apply as well as organisations inclusive of transgender groups, working from a feminist perspective.
