The U.S. Embassy Phnom Penh is pleased to host the English Language Teaching (ELT) Forum 2025 and invites proposals from qualified not-for-profit organizations, educational institutions, and schools to implement the event.
The Implementing Partner is responsible for organizing and implementing the English Language Teaching Forum in Cambodia to be held in May 2025. The forum will host approximately 120 participants including policy makers, influencers, teacher trainers and other stakeholders in the field of English language education from three countries: Laos, Vietnam, and Cambodia.
Objectives
- To convene 120 participants representing a wide range of stakeholders and geographical areas in English language education related to job readiness. This includes 30 participants from Vietnam, 30 from Laos, and 60 from Cambodia.
- To conduct a 2.5-day event that teaches and updates participants on the latest trends and developments in English Language Teaching (ELT) and developments and results in an action plan to be published in a journal, which will inform future English language education policies in the three participating countries. This forum will include, but is not limited to, a plenary, break-out sessions, site visit(s), panel discussion(s), and networking event(s).
- To write and publish professional, country specific ELT reports post conference that detail best practices, country specific challenges to ELT, and recommendations to address those specific challenges using participant input to be disseminated to non-attendees.
Funding Information
- The program is designed to be impactful and transformative, with a total budget not exceeding $90,000.
- The implementing partner will bring together participants from Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia to collaboratively identify global, regional, and local trends, discuss challenges and opportunities in the field, and recommend initiatives and policies to enhance English language teaching, learning, and job readiness in each country.
- When cost sharing is offered, it is understood and agreed that the applicant must provide the amount of cost sharing as stipulated in its proposal and later included in an approved agreement. Cost sharing may be in the form of allowable direct or indirect costs. For accountability, you must maintain written records to support all costs which are claimed as your contribution, as well as costs to be paid by the U.S. government.
Eligibility Criteria
- U.S. Embassy Phnom Penh welcomes applications from non-profit organizations/non-government organizations (NGOs) and institutions of higher education.
Funding Restrictions
- U.S. Embassy Phnom Penh will not consider applications that reflect any type of support for any member, affiliate, or representative of a designated terrorist organization.
- Construction costs are not allowed under U.S. Embassy Phnom Penh awards.
- Award funds cannot be used for alcoholic beverages.
