The New Mexico Oil & Gas Association (NMOGA) has partnered with the Albuquerque Community Foundation (ACF) on a statewide grant program to ensure philanthropic funds are invested strategically in communities throughout New Mexico. The first grant round of 2021 will focus on the Northern region of New Mexico; future rounds in 2021 will focus on Central New Mexico and Southern New Mexico.
NMOGA is a statewide coalition of oil and natural gas stakeholders, individuals, and companies dedicated to promoting the safe and environmentally responsible development of New Mexico’s oil and natural gas resources. With more than 1,000 members, NMOGA advocates for sensible and balanced policies for the development, production, and transportation of oil and natural gas, and works to increase the public’s awareness and understanding of industry operations and contributions to the state.
Funding Areas
Grants from the Brighter Future Fund will focus on three areas: Education, Economic Opportunity and Hunger. Within each of these areas, specific attention will be paid to the following:
- Education (early childhood – adult):
- Programs that support STEM development and achievement.
- Programs that strengthen and promote family engagement through education.
- Programs that provide training, access and/or professional development opportunities for teachers to incorporate social-emotional learning and trauma-informed learning for their students.
- Programs that provide access to technology and distance learning for at-risk populations.
- Economic Opportunities:
- Programs that offer skills-based education and/or workforce training to improve economic opportunities for New Mexico residents.
- Financial literacy programs so families and/or individuals can begin building financial assets.
- Programs that provide small business development and entrepreneurial support to stimulate local economic growth and revitalization during/after COVID-19.
- Hunger:
- Programs that provide basic food and nutritional needs, such as food banks, food pantries and free-reduced food services.
- Programs that address the cross-section of hunger and homelessness.
Funding Information
- Grants will range in size from $5,000 – $10,000.
Eligibility Criteria
Eligible organizations must be:
- Exempt from U.S. federal income tax pursuant to section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code (the “Code”) and classified as a public charity under section 509(a)(1) or section 509(a)(2) of the Code; and/or an educational institution or governmental entity.
- Located anywhere in the United States, however, a local partner supporting New Mexico is required.
- In compliance with the IRS Guidestar Charity Check Report, NM Attorney General’s COROS filing and the NM Secretary of State.
- Organizations located in, and with primary services located in, the following counties are eligible to apply: San Juan, Rio Arriba, Taos, Colfax, Union, McKinley, Los Alamos, Santa Fe, Mora, Harding, Cibola, San Miguel, Guadalupe and Quay.
- Applicants can only submit one proposal per year.
- Funding focus areas include Education, Economic Opportunity and Hunger.
- While organizations with operating budgets of all sizes are eligible to apply, preference will be given to organizations with operating budgets less than $1 million.
Requirements
- Proposal Narrative/Questions;
- A detailed project budget relating to this request;
- Most recent financial statements o Audited financial statements are required if your organization has an operating budget of $500,000 or more;
- Listing of current members of the Board of Directors.
Narrative
While the Brighter Future Fund grant application will be online via the Albuquerque Community Foundation’s website starting January 18, 2021, the following bullets indicate information that will be required in various questions in the online application.
- Your organization and/or program’s mission and goals.
- Description of program for which you are applying for funds.
- Description of the effects COVID-19 has had on your organization, programming and the population you serve.
- How your program fits into the framework of one of priorities areas of this grant (Education, Economic Opportunity or Hunger) and the specific foci within these areas as described in this RFP.
- A set of quantitative outputs.
- Outputs are quantitative measurements to monitor and report on during your grant period. Put simply, outputs seek to capture “how many/how much” of something is being accomplished.
- A set of qualitative outcomes.
- Outcomes serve as qualitative indicators to monitor and report on during your grant period. Put simply, outcomes seek to measure “who benefits and to what extent.
- How you are collaborating – sharing talent and resources with other organizations in their community.
- Primary county served. Applicants that do not meet the requirements or that submit an application that fails to address every one of these bullets will not be considered.
