The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is pleased to announce the Call for Proposals and invites local organizations operating in the Enga province, Papua New Guinea to submit applications for Low-Value Grant Projects to be implemented.
The project aims to assist in strengthening sustainable and inclusive economic development of the Enga Province of Papua New Guinea. The project has three Strategic Objectives:
- improving climate change mitigation and adaption;
- strengthening food and nutrition strategy and
- improving biodiversity and land/forest conservation.
Focus Areas
Non-Government Organizations (NGOs), Civil Society Organizations, Community Based Organizations (CBOs) and Corporative Societies are encouraged to submit applications with experience of implementing activities in the following areas:
- Environmental protection (forestry, biodiversity and wildlife management, combating land degradation, research and etc.),
- Development of community infrastructure (repair or restoration works at infrastructure or social facilities, for instance buildings of schools, kindergartens, local hospitals, electricity lines and drinking and irrigation water systems and etc.),
- Agriculture and economic development of the community (job creation, trade promotion, etc.)
- Climate friendly livelihoods and job creation.
Funding Information
- The total amount of grant funds allocated under this Project for successful recipients will be no more than PGK 90,000.00 (Ninety thousand Papua New Guinean Kina) and minimum of PGK 45,000.00 (Forty-Five thousand Papua New Guinean Kina). The contribution of recipients to the project should be at least 20% of the grant amount. This contribution of 20% can be expressed in cash at the disposal of recipients or as the in-kind 2 contribution of applicants (for example, property, inventory necessary for the implementation of the low-value grant project, physical work to be done by the applicant).
- Duration: The implementation period is 18 months from the date of grant agreement signing.
Eligibility Criteria
- NGOs, CSOs, CBOs and Corporative Societies interested in applying for LowValue Grant Projects should meet the following criteria:
- Availability of legal documents of the organization (legal registration in the Investment Promotion Authority of PNG).
- Organizations and/its branch working in the pilot communities have the advantage.
- Work experience in provision of implementing relevant activities in the field mentioned at least 2 contracts implemented over the past 3 years (provide with descriptions of the work performed and the contact details of the contracting organization).
- An expertise team to implement the low-value grant projects (organizational structure including title and role is required).
- Note: Applications will be disqualified if the budget items are intended to be used for procurement of the works and services, using UNDP funds:
- Payment of salaries, fee for consulting services of experts, employees of the local self-government bodies and public servant.
- Miscellaneous administrative expenditures.
- Procurement of food.
- Procurement of office equipment.
- Activity which is contrary to applicable legislation of PNG.
