The Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF) is calling for expressions of interest for the Regional Implementation Team in Ecuador.
The Critical Ecosystem Partnership Fund (CEPF), a joint initiative of l’Agence Française de Développement, Conservation International, the European Union, the Global Environment Facility, the Government of Japan and the World Bank, is designed to help safeguard the world’s biodiversity hotspots. As one of the founding partners, Conservation International administers the global program through a CEPF Secretariat.
Funding Information
- Grants of up to USD50,000 in value will be contracted and overseen directly by the RIT; grants this value will be contracted and overseen by the CEPF Secretariat, with support and guidance from the RIT.
- The total grant-making budget will be USD5,845,000. The maximum funding available for the RIT grant is USD700,000.
- CEPF seeks to recruit an organization or consortium to serve as the Regional Implementation Team (RIT) from October 1, 2022 to April 30, 2027.
Eligibility Criteria
- Eligible organizations are invited to apply for an RIT that will assist with managing and building capacity to implement the CEPF investment strategy for the Ecuador portion of the Tropical Andes Biodiversity Hotspot.
- Nongovernment organizations, private companies (including consulting firms) and other civil society organizations with substantial experience in biodiversity conservation, sustainable development or capacity building are eligible to apply for the RIT.
- Only those organizations that are listed in Table 1 may apply in the lead role.
- Organizations must have their own bank account and be authorized under relevant national laws to receive charitable contributions.
- Government-owned enterprises or institutions are eligible only if they can establish that they:
- have a legal personality independent of any government agency or actor;
- have the authority to apply for and receive private funds; and
- may not assert a claim of sovereign immunity.
- Provided an organization meets the requirements, groups that participated in preparation of the Tropical Andes Ecosystem Profile, either as a stakeholder, participant, author or consultant, are eligible to apply. Any potential advantage gained as a result of involvement in this process will not be considered during evaluation of proposals.
