The Community Foundation of Mendocino County has launched the call for proposals for the Women’s Legacy Fund to support organizations in Mendocino County that assist women and girls to strengthen their physical, emotional, intellectual and financial well-being.
The Community Foundation is welcoming proposals from Mendocino County non-profit organizations that have a history of supporting women and girls as demonstrated in their mission and programs. The program/project should offer an innovative solution that addresses an identified community need related to the well-being of women and girls; or enable women and girls to reach their potential.

- Grant range: $500 – $3,500
Eligibility Criteria
If you received a Field-of-Interest grant earlier in the year, your organization is still eligible to apply to this round of funding, provided you complete an interim report prior to the deadline. City and county entities will be considered on a request-by-request basis. All other applicant organizations must:
- serve residents of Mendocino County. Applicants not headquartered in Mendocino County must ensure that all grant dollars requested are spent within the County;
- be legally chartered in California and in possession of determination letter from the IRS declaring the organization a public charity that is exempt from federal income tax under Section 501(c)(3); or be a school district, tribe, or special district (e.g. community services, recreation, fire protection); or have an aligned mission with a fiscal sponsor;
- have two years of operational history; and
- conduct business without discrimination on the basis of race, color, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, national origin, or religious affiliation.
Criteria
Proposals may include:
- Projects/programs that advance the economic welfare of women and girls;
- Educational and mental health opportunities that enable women to experience the sense of mental well-being that comes from doing what one loves in all areas of one’s life; or
- Essential services that provide basic needs, safety, health care including reproductive health for women and girls.
