The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is seeking proposals from Civil Society Organizations to strengthen female leadership in the justice, rule of law and social cohesion sectors, as well as local governance, with particular emphasis on respecting and promoting women’s human rights.
Objectives
- Support creative and innovative initiatives that promote women’s access to leadership positions in the justice sector and governance, both formal and informal.
- Encourage mentoring and training programs aimed at developing the potential of young women, future leaders in their fields.
- Promote positive masculinity approaches and male engagement to deconstruct gender stereotypes and strengthen inclusive dynamics within the justice sector and communities.
- Build the capacity of civil society organizations working for women’s participation in governance, the justice sector, and conflict prevention, including academia, lawyers, and grassroots associations.
Funding Information
- Funding will be awarded in the form of a grant with a budget not exceeding BIF 144,630,150 for all grants in this call for proposals.
Duration
- Project duration: 12 months, with the possibility of extension depending on the results.
Eligibility Criteria
- Interested organizations must meet the following criteria:
- Be a legally registered civil society organization in Burundi.
- Have at least 5 years of experience in the fields of women’s human rights, gender equality, the justice sector, and/or social cohesion.
- Have a demonstrated capacity to implement the proposed activities effectively and efficiently over a 12-month period.
- Present a clear and innovative approach promoting women’s leadership.
- Proposals integrating approaches to promoting positive masculinity and male engagement are encouraged.
- Have sufficient and qualified human resources to supervise and carry out the activities.
