Call for Proposals: Mapping Capacities of Women-Owned/Led businesses in Nigeria

2023 Emerging Leaders Program in Cameroon

Deadline: 2-Nov-22

Under this Call for Proposals (CFP), UN Women will recruit a partner to conduct a mapping and capacity assessment of women-owned businesses in Kaduna and Lagos States.

The project focuses on advancing gender responsive procurement processes in Kaduna and Lagos as targeted States.

Women entrepreneurs face significant structural barriers, which limit their growth and development. Women tend to be more affected by poverty than men, have limited knowledge on existing procurement processes/policies and available support, and have limited access to finance and capital. Women-owned small and medium enterprises (WSME) are severely underrepresented as suppliers, securing only an estimated 1 per cent of procurement contracts. Integrating gender responsive procurement initiatives in COVID-19 response and recovery strategies represents an opportunity to mitigate the direct impact of this crisis on women -owned businesses.
